}キャバリア・キングチャールズ・スパニエルはイギリス産の小型犬の一種。スパニエル種に分類される。俗にキャバリアと呼ばれる。名前の「キャバリア」は、騎士という意味。騎士らしく雄々しい感じがすることから。
「キングチャールズ」は、イングランド王チャールズ1世 (イングランド王)|チャールズ1世・チャールズ2世 (イングランド王)|チャールズ2世がこの犬をたいへん気に入り、出かけるときもいつも連れ歩いていたということから来ている。ステュアート朝の断絶後、スパニエル種のブームは終わり、チャールズ王が愛したスパニエルは、一時期絶滅寸前の状態に陥っていた。その後19世紀になって、チャールズ2世時代のスパニエルの復活運動が行われ、キング・チャールズ・スパニエルをベースにさまざまな品種改良を経て、現在の形のキャバリア・キングチャールズ・スパニエルが誕生した。
